Privacy policy

Horus Tours is a travel agency with its office at 12 Talaat Harb Street, Downtown Cairo, Egypt. We arrange Hajj and Umrah packages, flights, hotels and guided tours.

We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. It is held on a server we control.

When you use the trip planner or the contact form, we ask for:

• Your name.
• An email address or a phone number. One is enough; we ask for at least one because otherwise we cannot reply.
• Anything you choose to write in the message box.
• The trip details you selected: destination, package, travel date and how many people are travelling.

We use this to answer your enquiry and to arrange the trip if you go ahead. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for anyone else's marketing.

We count visits so we know which parts of the site are useful. This is done on our own server, and it is deliberately built so that it cannot identify you:

• No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device.
• Your IP address is used once, to work out whether two page views came from the same person on the same day, and is then discarded. It is never written to the database.
• The value used to do that is regenerated every night, so you cannot be recognised from one day to the next.
• Your country is worked out from the time zone your browser reports, not from your address, so it is an approximation.
• We record which page was viewed, roughly how long for, what kind of device and browser, and which site you arrived from.
• If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we record nothing at all.

No analytics company is involved and none of this leaves our server.

This website sets no cookies of its own. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

The one exception is outside our control: the map at the bottom of the contact section is embedded from Google Maps, and Google may set cookies when that map loads. See "Other companies" below.

Three third parties can be involved when you use this site:

• Google Maps. The map showing our office is an embedded Google map. When the page loads, your browser contacts Google directly and Google receives your IP address and may set cookies, under its own privacy policy rather than ours.
• WhatsApp, owned by Meta. If you choose to continue a conversation on WhatsApp, that conversation happens on Meta's service and is covered by Meta's privacy policy.
• Our hosting. The web server keeps standard access logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. They are kept for a short period and are not used to build any profile.

Fonts and images are served from our own server, so no request goes to a font or content network when you load a page.

• Enquiries are kept while we are dealing with them and afterwards as a record of the business, so we can answer questions about a trip you took with us.
• Visit statistics are kept for two years, which is long enough to compare a season with the same season last year, and then deleted.
• Server access logs are kept for a short period for security purposes.

If you ask us to delete your enquiry, we delete it. That is a real deletion, not a hidden flag.

You can ask us to:

• Tell you what we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete your enquiry and the contact details attached to it.

Contact the office and we will deal with it. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that we do not hand somebody else's details to the wrong person.

Enquiries are stored on a server we control, reachable only over an encrypted connection, and only staff who need to answer them can open them. Every change to an enquiry is recorded against the person who made it.

No system is perfect, and we will tell you if something happens that affects your information.

This site is meant for adults arranging travel. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If a trip involves children travelling with you, we only hold the details you give us to book that trip.

If we change how we handle your information, we update this page and move the date at the top. Correcting a typo does not move the date; changing what we do, does.
